The Department of ENT at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattankulathur, successfully hosted RHIMES 2025 (Rhinology Meet In SRM), a two-day academic conference dedicated to the field of rhinology, held on June 20 and 21, 2025.

Organised under the visionary guidance of Dr. C.R.K. Balaji, Head of the Department of ENT, and in academic collaboration with the Department of Anatomy, led by Dr. S. Sundarapandian, Professor and Head of Anatomy, RHIMES 2025 served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange between budding ENT professionals and veteran experts.

The highlight of the event was the cadaveric dissection and surgical demonstration sessions, which offered participants a hands-on understanding of intricate nasal anatomy and surgical techniques. These sessions were led by renowned ENT surgeons, including:

● Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Professor of ENT, Dean, and Pro Vice-Chancellor (MHS), SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre
● Padma Shri Dr. Mohan Kameswaran, Managing Director and Chief ENT Surgeon of MERF
● Dr. Regi Thomas, Professor of ENT, Christian Medical College, Vellore
● Dr. Raghunandhan, Consultant, MERF
● Dr. Vivek Sasindran, Professor of ENT, KM Cherian Institute of Medical Sciences, Chengannur

These esteemed surgeons provided live demonstrations of advanced rhinological procedures while sharing their expertise on current trends and best practices in the field.

Complementing the surgical workshops, the conference featured academic discussions that integrated multidisciplinary perspectives from pathology, radiology, and microbiology, led by SRM’s distinguished faculty. A standout session on maxillary carcinoma was delivered by Dr. Bharathi Mohan, Professor and Head of the Department of ENT, JSS Medical College, offering valuable insights into clinical management and diagnosis.

To further engage participants, the event included a quiz competition and an E-poster presentation session, both evaluated by an elite panel of judges, encouraging scholarly discourse and innovation among the delegates.

RHIMES 2025 drew over 100 delegates from across the country, including 20 hands-on participants (10 basic and 10 advanced), with 10 delegates attending from other states. The conference also hosted more than 40 observers and numerous teaching faculty members, all contributing to an enriching academic experience.

With its carefully curated sessions, expert-led dissections, and strong national participation, RHIMES 2025 proved to be a grand success, reinforcing SRM Medical College’s commitment to fostering surgical excellence and continuous learning in the field of ENT and rhinology.
