A comprehensive medical outreach camp was organised at Vaiyavoor village by the Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and CRDS. The initiative aimed to deliver accessible and quality healthcare services to the underserved rural population.

The camp witnessed the active participation of medical professionals from various departments, including General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Audiology, Orthopaedics, and ENT.

A total of 160 outpatients availed medical consultations during the camp. Among them, 63 individuals were identified for further investigations and treatments and were referred to SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre with a yellow card, which entitles them to receive continued treatment at no cost.

The camp was met with positive response from the community, and its smooth execution was made possible by the coordinated efforts of the organising teams, volunteers, and healthcare staff.

A special mention goes to Mrs. Jayalakshmi Neelakandan, Village President of Vaiyavoor, whose invaluable support and local coordination played a vital role in the success of the event.

This initiative reflects SRMIST’s commitment to community health, outreach, and social responsibility, extending its medical expertise beyond institutional walls to serve those in need.
