SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre marked a memorable beginning for its newest batch of students with Fresher’s Day 2025, held on Friday, 5 December 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Hippocrates Auditorium. The grand welcome was organised by The Zephyrians, the Student Council, and brought together students, faculty members, and academic leaders in a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and encouragement.

The programme opened on a traditional and dignified note with the rendition of Tamizh Thai Vazhthu, setting the tone for the event. This was followed by a lively welcome dance performed by student volunteers, adding colour and energy while reflecting cultural pride and unity.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the lighting of the Kuthuvilakku by the dignitaries, symbolising wisdom, positivity, and enlightenment for the academic journey ahead.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. Krisha Arya S. R., President of the Student Council, who warmly greeted the freshers and encouraged them to make the most of their time at the institution by embracing learning, friendships, and personal growth.

The Felicitation segment featured inspiring addresses by Dr. V. Sathyanarayanan, Associate Dean – Student Affairs, and Dr. K. V. Leela, Associate Dean – UG Studies. Both speakers emphasised the importance of discipline, academic focus, mental wellness, and holistic development as essential pillars of a successful medical career.

A Special Address was delivered by Dr. T. Mythili, Additional Registrar (MSL), who highlighted the core values of the institution and underscored the need for responsibility, integrity, and professionalism in medical education.

The Presidential Address was given by Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (MHS) (I/C) and Dean – Medical. In his keynote message, he urged students to uphold excellence, compassion, dedication, and innovation as they begin their journey in the field of medicine.

The event was further honoured by the presence of Dr. J. S. Kumar, Associate Dean – PG Academics, whose participation reflected the institution’s strong commitment to academic excellence and student mentorship.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Shishir Ratnagiri, President of the Student Council, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, performers, organising teams, and participants for their contributions to the success of the event.
