The Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre successfully conducted “TRACHEON – Standardizing Tracheostomy: From Insertion to Decannulation,” an academic program focused on enhancing clinical precision and patient safety in airway management.
The session brought together experienced clinicians, faculty members, and trainees for in-depth discussions on tracheostomy practices. Key areas included surgical techniques, perioperative management, postoperative care, and structured decannulation protocols. The program emphasised the importance of standardising procedures to improve outcomes and ensure safe airway management across clinical settings.
The event was enriched by insightful lectures delivered by distinguished experts, Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar and Dr. S. Raghunandhan, whose sessions provided valuable perspectives and practical guidance for both residents and practising clinicians.
The program was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro-Vice Chancellor (MHS), SRMIST; Dr. T. Mythili, Additional Registrar (MSL), SRMIST; Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean (Medical), SRMMCHRC; Dr. R. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent, SRMMCHRC; and Dr. K.V. Leela, Vice Principal (Medical), SRMMCHRC who felicitated the speakers and acknowledged the importance of such academic initiatives.
The organising team, led by Dr. C.R.K. Balaji (Organising Chairman) and Dr. G. Selvarajan (Organising Secretary), along with the dedicated ENT team, played a key role in successfully executing the program.
