SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre has strengthened its comprehensive patient-centred rehabilitation services with the inauguration of the SRM Rehab Centre – Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine on 24 August 2026.
The 70-bed comprehensive rehabilitation centre, recognised as the 2nd largest in Tamil Nadu, is dedicated to providing specialised, multidisciplinary care for patients recovering from trauma and major injuries, stroke, head injury, post-ICU conditions, mobility challenges, speech and communication difficulties, and other conditions affecting functional independence and quality of life.
Rehabilitation is where recovery goes beyond survival. At SRM Rehab Centre, the focus extends from treating the condition to helping patients restore function, regain independence, rebuild confidence and return to their daily lives, families and communities.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, the centre aims to support patients across different stages of recovery, particularly those who face challenges in mobility, communication, daily activities or returning to work and independent living.
The centre’s mission is simple yet meaningful: not just to help patients live, but to help them live their lives to the fullest.
The SRM Rehab Centre was inaugurated by Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), in the presence of Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, Pro-Chancellor (Academic), SRMIST.
With the establishment of the Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre takes another significant step towards delivering holistic healthcare that addresses not only disease and injury, but also the long-term functional, emotional and social needs of patients.
The centre represents a continued commitment to making rehabilitation an integral part of comprehensive healthcare, helping individuals move from recovery towards greater independence, dignity and quality of life.
