With all your guidance and support, on 5th September “World Spinal Cord Injury Day” our Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has organized “Sign for your Spine” – a Signature Campaign for awareness of prevention of Spinal Cord Injury. Also, our Department of PMR has taken part in an event called “Maathiyosi” – a camp for medical screening and awareness among persons with Spinal Cord Injury, organized by Soulfree – an NGO at Tiruvannamalai.
I would like to present the following report of the two events on World Spinal Cord Injury Day – 5th September 2022
At SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre
A Signature Awareness Campaign “Sign for your Spine” was organized at our Hospital and College premises, for the awareness on prevention of Spinal Cord injury and care for the persons affected with it. Faculties, students, patients and common people have actively taken part in this signature campaign on the awareness of Spinal cord injury.
At Soulfree, Tiruvannamalai.
SOULFREE, a NGO at Tiruvannamalai has organized an event “Maathiyosi” – a camp for medical screening and awareness among the persons with Spinal Cord Injury. 67 persons with SCI participated in this camp. Dr.R.Karthikeyan, Associate Professor in PMR and Dr.Sriram, Assistant Professor in Radiology have participated in this camp representing our institution.
Dr.R.Karthikeyan – was involved in clinical evaluation of patients and recommendation of rehabilitation protocols.
Dr.Sriram – has done Ultrasound scans for all the patients with SCI especially the evaluation of their Kidney and Urinary bladder problems which are more common and under diagnosed among persons with SCI.
