The Postgraduate Wellness Program was conducted at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Kattankulathur, organised by the Department of Psychiatry, University Wellness Program (UWP), and SRM School of Public Health on 20th June 2025. Aimed at empowering postgraduate medical students with essential tools for mental well-being and resilience, the full-day workshop brought together 40 postgraduates and 15 faculty members.

The day commenced with insightful sessions by Dr. Denis Xavior and Dr. Suhas Chandran on orientation and the realities of postgraduate life. Dr. Ashwini inspired participants with her talk on “Research Beyond the Thesis,” emphasising the importance of academic growth beyond coursework. Dr. Sathya, UWP Coordinator, led a compelling discussion on peer support and the impact of social media on mental health. Following a brief coffee break, sessions delved into core stressors faced by postgraduates: Dr. Sugina Hermin, Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology, spoke sensitively about coping with night duties and patient death; Dr. Kalpana Ashok, Professor of SPH, shared practical strategies for handling criticism and difficult workplace dynamics; and Dr. Abinaya, Assistant Professor in Community Medicine, highlighted teamwork, boundaries, and collegial collaboration. A much-valued session on work-life balance and managing personal relationships was delivered by Dr. Denis Xavior, who encouraged thoughtful self-reflection.

marking SRM’s strong institutional support for postgraduate well-being. Post-lunch, Dr. Suhas Chandran led a session on mental health and self-care, followed by a joint session with Dr. Denis Xavior on integrating wellness into daily clinical practice. The program concluded with an enthusiastic feedback session, where participants appreciated the relevance, interactivity, and supportive environment.
