The University Wellness Program, School of Public Health, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), organised a Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Sound Therapy Workshop for Healing and Mindfulness” on 21st April 2026, at the School of Public Health, Medical College Building.

The session was conducted by Ms. Sunithi S. Ramesh from Satvat Holistics, Chennai, who served as the resource person. The workshop focused on introducing sound therapy techniques and their scientific relevance in enhancing mental well-being, reducing stress, and promoting mindfulness among faculty members.

A total of 28 faculty members participated in the program. The participants were predominantly from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, along with faculty members from other colleges of SRMIST, reflecting a growing interdisciplinary interest in holistic health and wellness practices.

The workshop covered key aspects, including an introduction to sound therapy and its scientific basis, demonstration of healing instruments such as singing bowls, guided relaxation and mindfulness exercises, and an interactive discussion on incorporating wellness practices into academic settings.

The session provided an engaging platform for faculty members to experience alternative approaches to stress management and personal well-being. Participants shared positive feedback and emphasised the importance of such initiatives in supporting both individual health and professional productivity.

The program was organised by Dr. Geetha Veliah, Assistant Professor, and coordinated by Dr. Sathya T, University Wellness Program Coordinator, School of Public Health, SRMIST.
