The Department of Community Medicine, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, organised a comprehensive medical camp under the Nalam Kakum Stalin Scheme, sponsored by SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), on 27 December 2025 at Nenmili village, Chengalpattu district.

The camp witnessed an encouraging response from the local community, with a total of 174 outpatients availing medical consultations and basic investigations. Based on clinical evaluation, 25 cases were identified and referred to higher centres for further management and specialised care.

Medical services were provided through a multidisciplinary team comprising faculty members, residents, interns, and volunteers from the departments of General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, ENT, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Radiology. The camp focused on early detection of common medical conditions, maternal and child health, eye and ENT screening, and general health awareness.

The camp was honoured by the visit of Mr. Tamil Mani, Ex-MLA, whose presence and interaction with the medical team and beneficiaries served as encouragement to both the healthcare providers and the community members.
This initiative reflects SRM Medical College’s continued commitment to community outreach, preventive healthcare, and strengthening access to quality medical services in rural and underserved areas.
