SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre successfully conducted its Second Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course from 19th to 21st February 2026, marking a significant milestone in trauma education in India.
The program holds a distinct national distinction as the first ATLS course in the country conducted entirely by fully qualified Trauma Surgeons holding MCh in Trauma Surgery from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Delivering the course through super-speciality trained trauma surgeons added substantial academic depth and clinical precision to the training. The faculty brought extensive experience in managing complex polytrauma cases at high-volume trauma centres, ensuring practical, real-world relevance throughout the sessions.
The distinguished faculty panel comprised eight AIIMS-trained trauma surgeons, including three women and five men, currently serving at leading institutions across India. Representation from major centres in New Delhi, Coimbatore, Indore, Delhi, Puducherry, and Vellore reflected strong national participation and academic diversity.
The three-day program followed the globally standardised ATLS framework, featuring structured interactive lectures, hands-on skill stations, moulage-based trauma simulations, and comprehensive theoretical and practical assessments.
A notable highlight of the course was the 100% practical pass rate achieved by all participants. Given the rigorous and standardised nature of ATLS practical evaluation, this outcome reflects the quality of instruction, structured mentoring, and the expertise of the faculty team.
By conducting a trauma course exclusively led by super-speciality trained trauma surgeons, SRM reinforces its commitment to strengthening trauma systems, advancing surgical education, and enhancing emergency care standards.
With this achievement, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre continues to consolidate its position as an emerging centre of excellence in trauma education and simulation-based clinical training in India.
