SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (SRMMCHRC) hosted IndiBioCom 2026, a three-day national conference bringing together leading scientists, researchers, academicians, young scholars and industry experts from across India to explore emerging developments in bioinformatics, computational biology and their applications in biomedical research and healthcare.

The conference provided a multidisciplinary platform for researchers to exchange ideas, present their work and explore collaborations in rapidly evolving areas at the intersection of computational science, artificial intelligence, biology and medicine.

The scientific programme covered key developments shaping modern life sciences, including population genomics, cancer genomics, microbial genomics, computational drug discovery, vaccine design, antimicrobial resistance, digital pathology and AI-driven biomedical research. The sessions highlighted the growing importance of computational approaches in understanding complex biological systems and translating large-scale biological data into meaningful scientific and clinical insights.

The conference featured distinguished experts from leading academic and research institutions across the country. Prof. K. Thangaraj, CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, and Prof. G. P. S. Raghava, Director, IIIT Delhi, were among the keynote speakers. Experts and researchers from institutions including IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru University, CSIR-IGIB, CSIR-IMTECH, ICGEB, Banaras Hindu University, BITS Pilani, IISER Berhampur and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai, participated in the conference.

Addressing the significance of integrating computational science with clinical medicine, Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean (Medical), SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, said, “Behind every dataset, every molecular pathway and every computational prediction, there is ultimately a patient waiting for a better diagnosis, a more precise treatment and a better outcome. The strongest discoveries will emerge when computational expertise and clinical insight come together.”

Highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary research, Prof. Dr. Sunil K. Narayanan, Dean (Research), SRMMCHRC, said, “This interdisciplinary conference, where biology meets computer science, engineering and bioengineering, is where innovation and creativity begin.”

With bioinformatics becoming increasingly central to contemporary biomedical research, IndiBioCom 2026 placed emphasis on translating complex biological datasets into actionable scientific and clinical knowledge. The conference also created opportunities for young researchers and scholars to present their research through oral and poster presentations, engage with established scientists and explore avenues for academic and research collaboration.

Through IndiBioCom 2026, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening interdisciplinary research and fostering collaboration among computational scientists, biomedical researchers, clinicians and industry. The conference also highlighted the growing role of data-driven approaches in accelerating discoveries in healthcare, drug development, precision medicine and biomedical innovation.
