As part of the World Blood Donor Day 2026 celebrations themed “Normalizing Voluntary Blood Donation,” SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (SRMMCHRC) launched SRM Blood Connect, a digital Blood Donation Camp Management System designed to streamline and modernize voluntary blood donation management.
The platform was developed through a collaborative effort between the Department of Computational Intelligence, School of Computing, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), and the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, SRMMCHRC.
SRM Blood Connect digitizes the complete blood donation camp workflow, including donor registration, eligibility screening, camp scheduling, donor communication, medical examination documentation, and centralized data management. The system aims to improve operational efficiency, strengthen donor engagement, and facilitate the effective organization of blood donation camps.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean (Medical), SRMMCHRC, emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare innovation “SRM Blood Connect reflects the strength of interdisciplinary collaboration at SRM, bringing together healthcare and technology to create meaningful impact and advance innovation in patient care,” she said.
Dr. S. Kingsley, Professor and Head, Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre, highlighted the platform’s role in promoting voluntary blood donation “SRM Blood Connect will enhance donor engagement, improve coordination, and streamline blood donation camp management, strengthening our efforts to promote voluntary blood donation,” he noted.
The project demonstrates the potential of technology-driven solutions in addressing healthcare challenges through academic collaboration. The platform was developed under the guidance of Dr. M. Ferni Ukrit, Professor and Program Coordinator (AI), and Dr. R. Vinston Raja, Assistant Professor, Department of Computational Intelligence, along with Mr. Akash R, a B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) student.
With its focus on efficient donor management, improved data handling, and seamless camp coordination, SRM Blood Connect is expected to contribute significantly to strengthening voluntary blood donation initiatives and supporting community healthcare needs.
The launch of SRM Blood Connect reaffirms SRM’s commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation and leveraging technology to create meaningful societal impact.
