Turning a bustling shopping destination into a stage for social impact, students from the University Wellness Program (UWP) Dance Club of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) delivered a powerful “Save Water” message through a vibrant flash mob at Phoenix Market City, Velachery, on 22nd March 2026.
The performance, organised in collaboration with global water technology leader Grundfos, drew large crowds and sparked conversations around water conservation in urban spaces. Blending choreography with purpose, SRMIST students used art as a medium to connect with the public and highlight the urgency of responsible water usage.
What stood out was SRMIST’s student-led initiative and its commitment to real-world engagement. The UWP Dance Club conceptualised and executed the event, demonstrating how the university encourages creativity, social responsibility, and industry collaboration. The campaign wasn’t just a performance — it was a reflection of SRMIST’s focus on shaping socially aware and action-driven individuals.
The partnership with Grundfos added global relevance to the initiative. As a Denmark-based leader in sustainable water solutions, Grundfos supports efforts that address water and climate challenges. Their sponsorship and recognition of the SRMIST team, including a cash award for the performance, underscored the impact and quality of the initiative.
Through events like this, SRMIST continues to go beyond academics, empowering students to engage with pressing global issues and bring meaningful change to communities.
