The Department of Neurosurgery at SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre observed World Head Injury Awareness Day on March 20, 2026, with a comprehensive awareness program aimed at promoting road safety and preventing head injuries.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. R. Jayanthi, Dean (Medical), SRMMCHRC in the presence of heads of various departments. The program witnessed active participation from around 100 members of the public.
As part of the initiative, a skit was performed to effectively highlight the serious consequences of rash driving and the importance of wearing helmets. Educational pamphlets detailing road safety measures, prevention of head injuries, and the importance of following traffic regulations were released during the event and distributed to over 500 members of the general public.
A pledge campaign was also conducted under the theme, “I Pledge to Drive Safe,” followed by a signature campaign where participants expressed their commitment to responsible driving practices.
The program was well received and saw enthusiastic participation, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to community health awareness and preventive care.
